Elton John on growing up for David Furnish

Elton John has revealed meeting partner David Furnish made him re-evaluate many aspects of his pampered life.

The couple, who entered a civil partnership in December 2005, first met in 1993 and it forced Elton to realise how spoilt he had become.

He said recently: “I wasn’t ashamed of being a drug addict, I was ashamed to ask someone how to work a washing machine. I couldn’t do anything for myself.”

He explained his attitude was “because I am Elton, you have to fit in with my lifestyle,” but that didn’t work with David: “David was a grown up and if I wanted to be in this relationship, I had to be grown up and realise that there are two people in this relationship, not just Elton.”
