Lindsay was arrested around 2.15am this morning near Pico Boulevard and Main Street in Santa Monica, California. Police had been called at 1.34am by the female driver of an SUV who claiming she was being pursued at high speeds by another car, which turned out to be driven by Lindsay. The passenger of the leading car was reportedly Lindsay’s assistant, who had quit earlier in the evening, and was picked up from Lindsay’s home by her mother.

After failing an alcohol assessment at the scene, Lindsay was formally arrested for DUI and driving under a suspended licence taken to the nearest police station. Two separate Breathalyzer tests were carried out, registering Lindsay’s blood-alcohol level at between 0.12 and 0.13 when the legal limit in California is 0.08.

She was also searched at the time of her arrest, leading to two further charges: possession of cocaine and transporting a narcotic into a custody facility.

According to Santa Monica police spokesperson Robert Hernandez, Lindsay was said to be crying and upset during the arrest but cooperative, and she was released from jail on a $25,000 bail at around 6.30am.

Lindsay entered rehab at the end of May following her first DUI arrest and left last week after completing a 45 day treatment programme. Since then, she has voluntarily worn an alcohol monitoring anklet so there are no questions about her sobriety“.

UPDATE: Lindsay has reportedly checked into an undisclosed treatment in the Los Angeles area - but not Promises Treatment Center in Malibu were she recently spent 45 days. Promises have refused to comment on today’s events.
