Lindsay Lohan: the drugs weren’t mine
Lindsay Lohan has reportedly claimed the drugs found on her during her arrest in the early hours of Tuesday morning were not hers.
Lindsay was arrested for driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license after apparently chasing after her (former) assistant Tarin and Tarin’s mum in her car. During a search at the police station following her arrest, police are said to have found a substance believed to be cocaine in her trouser pocket, resulting in further charges of possession and transporting a narcotic into custody.
Access Hollywood claims the I Know Who Killed Me star sent an email explaining: “Yes. I am innocent… did not do drugs they’re not mine.”
Two men were believed to have been travelling with Lindsay in the car at the time of the incident but they were not arrested or searched.
According to her lawyer, Lindsay is “presently receiving medical care” in an undisclosed facility after a “relapse”, just over a week after checking out of Promises Treatment Center in Malibu.
Her mum Dina Lohan added that Lindsay “is in a safe place” and “we are doing everything in our power in support of Lindsay and I won’t give up – this is my daughter and we love her.”
Estranged dad Michael Lohan though has been ordered to stay away from his eldest daughter, after trying to make “repeated, unreciprocated contacts” with her over the last few months. The order was issued by New York State’s Division of Parole and Michael will violate his parole conditions if he attempts to contact Lindsay or her lawyer.
Speaking about her arrest yesterday, Michael told People magazine that he is “heartbroken”: “I’m devastated by this,” he said. “It’s killing me, it’s ripping me apart.”
