After what feels like one of the longest celebrity pregnancies since Katie Holmes, Naomi Watts gave birth to a baby boy yesterday.

A spokesperson for Naomi confirmed that Alexander Pete Schreiber arrived at 3.59am yesterday morning in a Los Angeles area hospital, and weighed in at 8lbs 4oz.

Naomi’s partner - and Alexander’s dad - Liev Schreiber was at Naomi’s side throughout the birth.

A source told Life & Style magazine that the big day happened earlier than the King Kong star expected: “Naomi was planning on giving birth next week - her due date was early August - but since she insisted on delivering naturally, she knew there was a chance she would have the baby before the due date. That’s what wound up happening.”

“This is a dream come true for both of them and they’ve done everything in their power to make it as special as possible, right down to staying in the dark about the baby’s sex right up until Naomi gave birth.”

Naomi’s pregnancy was outed by fashion house Escada in a press release concerning Naomi’s choice of dress for the Oscars in February. Liev confirmed the news a few days later.
