Pete Doherty has insisted that despite rumours to the contrary, Kate Moss has been drug-free since she was photographed snorting cocaine in September 2005.

Pete told the Mirror recently: “The last drugs we did together was the coke in the recording studio when you filmed us. After that, she went into rehab in Arizona and came out a different woman.”

“Kate was determined to sort her life out and has done. She doesn’t mind the odd spliff but won’t go back down the route of the hard stuff. And she certainly won’t let me do drugs in her house.”

“Drugs are a big no-no for her now. All she wants is to be a good mum to her kid [four year old daughter Lila].”

Despite their split earlier this month, Kate paid for Pete’s most recent stay in rehab - he had an anti-drugs implant fitted during a five day stay at a Harrogate clinic last week. Pete added that throughout their relationship Kate has been trying to encourage Pete to give up drugs: “She was driven and tried to help me out. Her dream was for us to be a normal, happy couple like any other.”

“I guess my drug problem has destroyed that. You don’t know how much you’ve lost until it’s gone. I’ve been a bit of a idiot.”

While he’s been made several unsuccessful attempts at beating his addictions over the last few years, Pete believes this time will be different: “They gave me an anti-drugs implant. I was under very, very heavy sedation. Then they gave me a sticker warning the emergency services that I shouldn’t be given any morphine.”

“All my receptors are now blocked which means I can’t enjoy the recreational use of Class A drugs. Inside, I feel a little more chirpy than I have for a long, long time. But that’s only because there’s a degree of stability around me that I haven’t had for some time.”

“I had the choice of prison or making some attempt to contain a wilfully dissolute lifestyle. But I was already booked in. It was always just a question of when I did it. I’m on a heavy course of antibiotics and sedatives.”

“For a couple of weeks I’m just going to be a bit of a bag of bones. But I’m confident I can clean up. It’s going to take a couple of weeks for me to clean up. My arms especially. It’s been dark. But I’ve come out of rehab a new man.”

But the Sun claims he’s already lapsed, showing pictures of him from Monday night supposedly making a crackpipe out of a miniature spirits bottle.

A source told the newspaper: “It’s true Pete has packed in heroin but he’s finding it hard to kick everything else.”

“He was on so much drugs he can’t give them all up at once - it’s too much for him.”

“The way his mind thinks is that he’s come off the really hard stuff and a bit of crack to help him through won’t do him any harm.”

Pete is due in court next week regarding drugs possession following his arrest in May.
