Nicole RichieNicole Richie has revealed that her dad Lionel Richie was quite shocked when she told him about her pregnancy.

Nicole confirmed earlier this week that she’s expecting a baby with boyfriend Joel Madden and reports that when she told her dad, he went “really quiet” then said: “Now you’re going to get to experience everything that I have and everything that you’ve done to me, it’s definitely going to come back to you.”

Lionel told Us Weekly magazine that he’s proud that Nicole has stepped up to the plate and accepted responsibility for her actions regarding her upcoming jail time and the baby: “Her pregnancy has given her a new perspective on life in general.”

“My daughter has made some mistakes in her life [but] she has not blamed others for her problems and is growing up very quickly, albeit in the heat of the media spotlight.”

“In spite of what has happened, I continue to love her and cherish our relationship.”
