Melanie Brown has confirmed that she plans to formally sue ex-boyfriend Eddie Murphy for child support payments as the actor has yet to “do the right thing” as promised.

A DNA test in June proved that Eddie is the father of four month old baby Angel but Melanie’s lawyer Gloria Allred said yesterday that the Shrek star has not yet “legally acknowledged” that he is the dad and “has not paid one penny of child support”.

Allred went on to say: “Murphy was promising to do the right thing, but to date he has not done the right thing.”

“Mr. Murphy can have all the babies he chooses to have, but his responsibility needs to be to his own children. [Melanie] is seeking sole physical and legal custody.”

“He bought a big diamond ring for his new fianceé. It is nice to be generous to others, but what about his own baby?”

The Spice Girl insists she is not interested in Eddie’s money for herself: “I am here for one reason only - her name is Angel. Angel is my baby and Eddie’s.”

“She will always know that she was planned and wanted by both of us, but I want her to know that she has two parents who desire to be responsible for her during her life and who lover her so much that they want to be a part of it.”
