Sarah Jessica Parker: Carrie’s shoes wrecked my body
Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker is not looking forward to stepping back into her character Carrie’s Manolo Blahnik shoes - literally - for the big screen adaptation because wearing stilettos constantly has damaged her knees.
Sarah told Elle magazine recently: “I used to spend 18 to 20 hours filming in heels. I’ve totally destroyed my body by running and dancing in heels. My knees are shot.”
She is also bored of Carrie’s signature drink, the Cosmopolitan cocktail: “I’ve had many Cosmopolitans sent across to me in bars, but I always think, ‘God, if I could get this into a bottle, I could clean so much stuff at home.’”
Sarah played Carrie for six years until 2004 and is set to reprise the role next month when the long-rumoured film starts shooting.

I KNEW IT!!! I knew that it was impossible for a woman to wear nothing but super-high heels 24/7 and not suffer damage to her body as a result. I was a huge “Sex & the City” fan, but I was always puzzled as to how a woman could wear nothing but Manolo stilettos all the time and be comfortable–she even wore them when she was pregnant! My question is, why didn’t SJP SAY SOMETHING when these shoes started tearing her body up? I’m sure the costume designer could’ve put her in some great low-heeled boots or ballet flats or even trendy sneakers to give her legs a break… and to diversify Carrie’s style.

Why would that sound far fetched? Any research will tell you all the damage high heels can cause to a woman’s body, infertility even, as crazy as it sounds. And when you’re filming 6 series filled with TONS of episodes where you can count on one hand the number of times you see “Carrie” in flats. What’s she supposed to do? Say “no thank you kindly” to the millions of dollars and refuse to slip her feet into those delicious Manolos and Louboutins? I think not.

She needs to do the LEGWORK workout! It’s taught by Broaday dancers (Rockette, Chicago, A Chorus Line) and it’s all the excercises they do everyday in order to dance and perform in heels for 10-12 hours a day for weeks straight. These girls are incredibly athletic, ripped bodies and gorgeous legs and this is how they are able to dance all day. http://www.legworkdvd.com/

Let’s not be whining b*****s. High heels make us beautiful. And I’ll throw in another beauty enhancer…pantyhose. Yeah, I said it!

While I am sorry she damaged her knees, I agree that she might have prevented that with some of the proper exercise. Frankly I used to hate her, even though I watched every episode jealous to the core. I learned the hard way, after salivating at pair of her shoes until, yes, I caved in and bought not one but two pairs of Manolo Blahnik stilettos. When the aches started, I learned that just like exercise prevents carpal tunnel, you can’t just wear high heels and pretend everything will turn out wonderful. At least I didn’t have to exercise to wear matching undies!
