Pete Doherty still facing jail if detox isn’t successful
Pete Doherty has been warned that he still could face jail if he does not complete his current detox programme.
The Babyshambles frontman appeared at West London Magistrates Court this morning for the next hearing related to his drug possession arrest in May.
At last month’s hearing, Pete was threatened with jail unless he entered a rehab programme to tackle his drug addiction and consequently he had an anti-opiates implant fitted in his stomach at the end of July.
Speaking to the court this morning, Pete’s lawyer Sean Curran insisted that the singer was attending a drug treatment programme and he “presents himself certainly looking a lot better”.
District Judge Davinder Lachlar agreed that it was too early to determine the results of his progress, saying: “What I have in mind is to adjourn this matter for four weeks to assess his motivation.
“What I have in mind is a community order or prison… if he does not show his motivation, it’s prison - it’s as simple as that.”
Pete was accompanied to the court by his previously estranged mum Jacqueline.
