Both Amy Winehouse and husband Blake Fielder-Civil have reportedly checked into rehab in the US to get over their partying habits.

Amy has admitted smoking heroin, taking cocaine and ketamine, and drinking heavily before her collapse and brief hospitalisation last week and after a tense long weekend in discussion with their families, the pair have decided to call it a day on their excesses.

A family source told the Mirror: “It broke Amy’s heart to see her parents and in-laws fighting. That was the point when she realised all the drink and drugs were causing huge problems for everybody.”

“She confessed that she and Blake had drug problems and had to have treatment together.”

“They both admitted taking cocaine and heroin. But they denied they had been injecting heroin. At one point, both Amy and Blake stripped off in front of [Blake’s mum] Georgette to prove they had not been using needles.”

“But they now realise that if they don’t get help now, they will both die young. This is their watershed, their wake-up call.”

“They are both to blame. They are both as bad as each other. But at least they have admitted they have got a problem and are taking action to help each other.”

“It was a brave step for both of them to agree to treatment and their families are very proud of them.”

The couple have flown to the US to check into an undisclosed rehab centre for detox and counselling, and have also seen an addiction specialist in Harley Street recommended to them by Amy’s friend, Kelly Osbourne.

The couple, who married in May, have also been encouraged to escape the partying scene around their home in Camden, north London. A source close to Amy told the Sun that her parents and manager “want her to escape the whole scene for the sake of her career and are going to look into it.”

“They talked about whether they should rent or buy a place for Amy and Blake to use as a bolthole.”
