Amy Winehouse leaves rehab after just two days
Amy Winehouse and husband Blake Fielder-Civil have checked out of rehab less than two days after they entered the treatment.
The couple were originally thought to have travelled to the US for treatment but actually checked into The Causeway facility in Essex. They were expected to spend between six and eight weeks in the £10,000-a-week programme but left early yesterday.
The pair are believed to have returned to their home in north London and according to the Sun, Amy later visited a specialist doctor for a brain scan to check whether her seizure last week was caused by epilepsy or simply a drugs overdose.
A source told the newspaper: “When Amy got to The Causeway everyone breathed a sigh of relief. She was supposed to stay for a few weeks and sort herself out. But after a couple of decent meals she insisted she was fit to go home.”
“People close to her are devastated. But Blake wants her to return to normality - and we all know what their normality is. They’ve even been planning to meet friends in Camden. It’s madness.”
“[Amy’s dad] Mitch is desperate for Amy to get some proper lengthy treatment but she’ll only do it with Blake. Mitch even looked to see if he could get a restraining order against him but legally it’s impossible.”
Blake’s father Giles Fielder told the Mirror that all is not necessarily lost just yet: “We were praying they wouldn’t bail out early. We don’t want them to go back into their vicious cycle.”
“Amy has had five days away from drugs and her self-esteem and confidence is slowly coming back. I hope she and Blake can take control of their lives.”
