Nicole Kidman believes her on-set car crash in February was to blame for a lot of the pregnancy rumours that began circulating about her in the spring.

Nicole crashed a Jaguar car into a telegraph pole while filming a secne for new film The Invasion and said recently: “It was very scary, I broke some ribs so that was pretty painful - even though I seem to have a high pain threshold.”

“The bandaging was quite heavy so I guess that might be what started people talking [about a pregnancy belly].”

After returning to work, Nicole insisted that the footage of the crash was included in the final edit of the film: “I told them, ‘You’ve got to put this in the movie because there’s no way I’m going to have gone through all of this pain and not have it in the movie.’”

“I got my wish and it’s going to be included.”

The film is set to be released in October.
