Britney Spears backs out of Justin Timberlake comeback duet
Britney Spears has reportedly backed out of recording a duet with Justin Timberlake at the last minute, leaving her record company worried about her commitment to her comeback.
According to the New York Post, Justin wrote the track especially for his former girlfriend and the pair were to record their tracks separately this week to be mixed together at a later date. Justin’s favourite producer Timbaland was set to oversee the recordings and the final edit.
An inside source told the newspaper: “Timbaland set aside a week out of his crazy schedule to do this - and then, just before she was supposed to fly out, Britney abruptly canceled the session and refused to do the song.”
“It’s crazy. She’s looking for a comeback, and this would have not only been a huge hit, but something she could have opened the MTV Video Awards with and really blown everyone away.”
“Everyone is worried [about her comeback]. In her mind, her album is done and she’s done enough work … She’s very competitive, but at the end of the day, it’s hard. She has to do the work - no one can do it for her.”
Britney is said to be working with illusionist Criss Angel for a routine to open next month’s MTV VMAs. She is also facing court dates in her custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline.
