Keira Knightley: the fascination with celebrities frightens me
Keira Knightley has said she dislikes the current cultural obsession with celebrity - especially because many of the images seen are false.
She said recently: “It frightens me when kids go, ‘I want to be famous.’ Why? Because you want to go into a restaurant. You know what? If you book, you can get into a restaurant.”
“Ok, I’m on the cover of a magazine but somebody does the hair, and the make-up and airbrushes the f*** out of me - it’s not me, it’s something other people have created.”
She added that she is finally getting more confidence in her own acting skills and thinks she was “dire” in the film that launched her career, Bend It Like Beckham.
