Skins’ Nicholas Hoult: I’d rather go nude than wear Y-fronts on screen
Skins star Nicholas Hoult has said he’d rather go nude than wear Y-fronts on film.
Nicholas shot to fame as a child actor opposite Hugh Grant in About a Boy but reinvented himself for the Channel Four teen series, where he played drug-taking, sex-obsessed hedonist Tony.
Nicholas took a little Tony with him for his new role in BBC drama Coming Down The Mountain, telling the Sunday Mirror: “There was one scene where my character has to appear wearing a pair of Y-fronts, and the script was very specific about it.”
“I wouldn’t be seen dead in them. I’d rather do a nude scene any day than appear in Y-fronts. I was thinking about protesting, but in the end, the scene was dropped anyway. That was definitely a lucky break as far as my image was concerned!”
“In real life you get out of the shower naked, so why wouldn’t you do it on screen? It’s just a normal thing.”
“I always think, ‘Should I have buffed up a bit more?’ But, in the end, I find working out boring.”

I guess this is a dumb question, but what it a Y-Front, and why would it be worn stepping out of a shower in a film?

Y-fronts are briefs - they look alot like Jockey briefs - the fly looks like an upside down Y… therefore the name Y-fronts.
The term is a British term…
