Lindsay Lohan has met with her father for the first time in nearly three years.

Lindsay has not seen Michael since before he was sent to jail in 2005 for a DUI and over drunk-driving related offences. Since his release earlier this year, he has only been able to communicate with his eldest daughter through open letters to the media.

Her mum Dina Lohan has now confirmed that she and ex-husband Michael Lohan visited Lindsay at the Cirque Lodge treatment center in Utah, where Lindsay is currently rehabbing, earlier this week

Dina said of the visit: “Lindsay, myself and my son, Michael Jr, agreed that it would be good for her to have some closure with the situation with her dad. It’s part of the healing process,”

“I am [happy about the meeting]. I wanted it to happen for Lindsay.”

“She needed to do this for herself. It’s still her father, no matter how you slice it. It’s still her dad, and God willing he’ll get it.”

Lindsay is expected to leave the Cirque Lodge facility in the next fortnight. She entered treatment after her second DUI offence at the end of July.
