Charlize Theron and I are married, says Stuart Townshend

Charlize Theron’s boyfriend Stuart Townshend has said the pair consider themselves to be married.

The couple showed off their wedding rings at the premiere of Stuart’s directorial debut Battle in Seattle at the Toronoto Film Festival on Wednesday and Stuart explained: “I’m married. I didn’t do a church wedding or anything, but we’re married. We’re husband and wife.”

“We love each other and we want to spend our lives together. [She is] the greatest woman I’ve ever met.”

“We didn’t have a ceremony. I don’t need a certificate or the state or the church to say otherwise. So no there’s no big official story on a wedding, but we are married. … I consider her my wife and she considers me her husband.”

He added: “It was really amazing tonight to premiere the film with her. She’s proud and she was crying, so it’s as important to her as it’s important to me. We’re a team and we’re in this together. That’s what you do. You look out for each other.”

Charlize stars in the fictional film based on the 1999 World Trade Organisation protests in the city.
