Britney Spears offers Kevin Federline $2m to drop custody case?
Britney Spears has reportedly offered ex-husband Kevin Federline a multi-million dollar deal to drop his custody challenge.
The couple currently have joint custody - 50/50 - of their two children, two year old Sean and one year old Jayden, but Kevin is demanding a 70/30 split instead. They have been in talks with their legal teams this week over the custody of their sons to avoid the case going to court and according to the News of the World, Britney offered Kevin $2million to give her the 70% custody share. The deal would also include a ‘gagging order’, ordering Kevin not speak to the media about the custody battle or make claims that she’s an unfit mother.
A source told the newspaper: “She is a caring devoted mum despite her crazy lifestyle. The kids mean the world to her. However she has finally come to terms with the fact that the way things are heading, she is going to lose them.”
“She is absolutely petrified at that thought - and she knows she will not win full custody. So she has decided to reach a compromise with Kevin where she will have most custody.”
“If he got custody it would mean massive sums in child maintenance and that is what Britney thinks he is after. She thinks if she gives him a wad of dollars he can go take it and knock himself out!”
Kevin currently receives around $20,000 a month in spousal support from his former wife but that will end in November. Child support payments under the 50/50 custody split have already been agreed but Kevin could request more money if the custody arrangements change in his favour.
Speaking after a court hearing on Friday, Britney’s lawyer Laura Wasser explained that the custody battle is “a frustrating time” for the former pop princess: “[she] just wants to be a mom.”
