Melanie Brown accused of leaving baby with housekeeper

It’s not just Britney Spears‘ parenting skills that are being called into question today - Melanie Brown has been accused of leaving her baby daughter with her housekeeper for days at a time.

Tonia Lamere, who no longer works for the Spice Girl, claims that Melanie left behind then-two-month-old baby Angel and eight year old Phoenix Chi when she eloped to Las Vegas with now-husband Stephen Belafonte.

Tonia told Star magazine: “One evening of baby-sitting turned into four days!”

“The child was sick, there was no nanny, and when Mel called, she never even asked about the baby.”

Tonia added that she had to buy food for both girls out of her own pocket because Melanie didn’t leave sufficient supplies.

Melanie’s spokesperson denies the story, insisting: “Melanie is a hands-on mother completely dedicated to the upbringing of her children and the well-being of her entire family.”

Melanie is currently involved in a child support battle with ex-boyfriend Eddie Murphy over baby Angel while older daughter Phoenix is from Mel’s previous marriage to Jimmy Gulzar.
