Amy Winehouse picks up MOBO and Vodafone Live awards
It seems music award organisers are ignoring Amy Winehouse’s father-in-law’s plea to stop rewarding her during her troubled period - the Back in Black star picked up two awards at two ceremonies last night.
Amy picked up the Best Female trophy at both the MOBO Awards and the Vodafone Live Music Awards in London last night.
The singer performed her tracks ‘Tears Dry On Their Own’ and ‘Me and Mr Jones’ then picked up her award with just a brief “thank you” at the MOBOs, while across town at Earls Court, she sent the landlord from her local pub to collect the Vodafone award on her behalf.
Other winners at the MOBOs included Dizzee Rascal (Best Male), Rihanna (Best International Act), Kanye West (Best Hip Hop and Best Video for ‘Stronger’) and Ne-Yo (Best R&B and Best Song for ‘Because of You’).
At the Vodafone Live Music Awards, the Arctic Monkeys were named the Best Live Act, Kylie Minogue won the Best Show Production for her Showgirl Homecoming tour, The Gossip received the Impact Award for new bands and Mika received the Best Male award.
In related news, Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones was ejected from a Vodafone Awards after-party after fighting with the security staff.
The doormen at the London bar Amika asked Kelly to leave after he was found “checking on his girlfriend” in the women’s toilets but when he refused to go, a fight broke out.
After finally been evicted from the club, Kelly was treated by paramedics for a deep cut on his forearm - then nearly got into a second fight with a random clubber but the pair were separated by security staff.
