Jamelia: X Factor’s Leona Lewis is a “poor man’s Mariah Carey”

Is another celebrity feud brewing? Jamelia has called X Factor winner Leona Lewis a “poor man’s Mariah Carey” and believes she’s only got this far because she’s been pushed by Simon Cowell.

Leona won the pop talent show late last year and landed the Christmas number one slot with her cover of Kelly Clarkson’s ‘A Moment Like This’. Her second single and debut album are set to be released this autumn - but it’s unlike that four time MOBO winner Jamelia will be buying it.

She told the Sun recently: “When Simon stops all this stupid hype about her, that’s when we’ll see if she can deliver. Like every artist Simon has, she’ll fade into obscurity eventually.”

“[Out of Simon’s Pop Idol/X Factor stable], only Will Young has been successful, and that was because he’s talented and cut ties with Simon. Leona is a poor man’s Mariah Carey.”

“Simon’s lost it. He is disrespectful. Leona may be talented, but she’s not worked as hard as me or others in the industry - fact!”

If anyone wants THE TRUTH, hop on over to her forum where she explained that not only did she NOT slag Leona off, but she actually praised Leona in the interview.

Um, no. She’s gone on national TV and said it isn’t true too.

Her team asked the interviewer for evidence of Jamelia saying this and they couldn’t produce any because THERE WAS NONE.

If Jamelia was lying, they could have easily produced the evidence to make her look like a liar.

And Jamelia never says anything she doesn’t mean and certainly doesn’t take it back. If she said this, she’d admit to it. It really isn’t a big deal to her.

For you to say Jamelia cannot sing is ridiculous, because anyone with a pair of ears can obviously hear she has a good singing voice, and technically speaking she’s actually a great singer.
