Noel Gallagher has revealed he felt a bit awkward at the birth of his baby son last week because he didn’t know what he should be doing.

The Oasis star and girlfriend Sara MacDonald welcomed son Donovan Rory MacDonald Gallagher into the world on Saturday morning at London’s Portland Hospital.

Speaking about the birth on Radio One yesterday, Noel explained: “I was there. It was all right for me but my missus was giving me a bit of stick afterwards, saying, ‘You never took your jacket off all the way through!’”

“I was in my leather jacket, nodding ‘You’ll be all right — just get it out before Soccer AM finishes.’”

“I think the worst thing is that you don’t have any specific role. You just stand there and nod.”

Donovan is Noel’s second child - he has a seven year old daughter, Anais from his relationship with Meg Matthews - and he explained that he’s quite proud of the naming decision: “The baby’s called Donovan. Sounds like a man who means business.”
