Sugababes Keisha Buchanan felt suicidal in the band’s early years
Sugababes star Keisha Buchanan has revealed she was suicidal during her early years in the band.
Keisha was a founding member of the girl group in 1998 when she was just 14 years old but she told the Mirror recently that when they had their first hit in 2000, she was filled with self-doubt and loneliness.
She explained: “I went through a really bad patch when I was around 17. A lot of my friends were just incredibly mean to me and I was really depressed.”
“I always invited my friends to the shows but they never came and they never invited me out.”
“It was a difficult time. My parents would say I should go out on a Friday night but I didn’t have anyone to go out with. I had everything I wanted but not happiness. I wanted to fall asleep and not wake up.”
“I thought about ending it all, that’s how bad things were for me. It was a really difficult time and I was so, so depressed.”
She added that it was her family’s support that pulled her through and she can’t see herself slipping back into that mental state again: “I’ve got a great circle of friends now. It’s been hard but I’m through the worst.”
Do you think Katie Price's marriage to Alex Reid will last?
