Keith UrbanKeith Urban has blamed a paparazzi photographer for causing him to crash his motorcycle in Sydney yesterday.

Keith was driving from his and wife Nicole Kidman’s home in the city to an AA meeting on Monday afternoon when the incident occurred.

He said afterwards: “Today’s incident was the result of one person’s desire to do his job and my desire to maintain my privacy. Some have already attempted to inflate the facts, but the reality is this; while out riding to an AA meeting, a time when my privacy is especially important to me, I felt myself being pursued.”

“I sped up, and in an effort to elude an oncoming car, which was making an illegal U-turn, saw no choice but to drop my bike.”

However a spokesperson for the ICON Picture agency, who employee the photographer in question, believes the photographer was not entirely to blame and that Keith has been spotted driving like a “maniac” over the last few days, including the wrong way down a one-way street.

But both parties agree that the snapper did the right thing after the crash. Keith explained: “my pursuer came to my assistance, without taking photos, and helped me from the road. I returned home, got my car, and continued on my way.”

Keith attends AA meetings regularly after spending two months in rehab late last year.
