Britney Spears’ family worried about continuing downward spiral
Britney Spears‘ aunt has said she thinks Britney’s zoned out behaviour on Monday will be the calm before the storm when it finally hits the pop star that she’s lost custody of her children.
Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon granted sole custody of the boys, Sean and Jayden, to their father Kevin Federline on Monday after Britney failed to comply to conditions of their joint custody.
Chanda McGovern told the Sun that she thinks losing her sons might be the tipping point for Britney: “We are very worried that things are going to spiral out of control. Instead of her turning to her family she is going to turn to the friends she has been hanging with - and the partying and drugs. And whether it be intentionally or accidental, there may be a drugs overdose.”
“We are worried about suicidal tendencies in her. Everything is spiralling down and she has not got a backbone - a family member to help her. Her mother was always her backbone. Since they’ve fallen out everything has gone to hell.
“We fear that one day we may turn on the TV that she’s done something terrible to herself. Every time you turn the TV on it’s something and every time it’s more negative than the last. It gets worse and worse. Not wearing panties is not something a true southern girl would do.”
“You just want to reach out and grab her and hug her and tell her you love her. I want to knock some sense into her and say, ‘Britney - wake up!’ It’s almost like it’s a nightmare and we want her to wake up from it.
Britney is said to have lost custody after failing to complete documentation regarding a psychological evaluation for the court, partying the night for taking obtaining physical custody of the boys last week (in violation of the previous custody criteria) and driving with the boys without a valid driving license for California.
However, sources close to the Gimme More star are optimistic that joint custody will be restored when Britney meets the conditions. Friend Sam Lufti told People magazine: “Scheduling conflicts and errors in communication led her to believe that her deadline was later this week rather than [Monday]. However, once we finally realized what was going on, we completed the list of tasks. … So everything’s looking good.”
“She is hoping the judge will reverse the order, now that she is making steps to follow through with what they asked.”
After handing over the boys on noon at Monday, Britney went to the Department of Motor Vehicles office in Van Nuys to apply for a license but that process is unlikely to be completed before the next custody court hearing today. A spokesperson for the DMV said yesterday that the star is “still unlicensed” but her application is “pending”: “She’s very close to getting a California license.”
