Pete Doherty’s sentencing for May’s drug possession arrests has been postponed for another three weeks to allow him to complete rehab.

District Judge Davinder Lachhar at West London Magistrates’ Court has delayed the hearing until 26th October after Pete tested negative for drugs throughout his treatment so far. The Babyshambles star has been threatened with jail if he is not seen to be “motivated” in beating his drug habit.

Pete’s lawyer Sean Curran said on Tuesday after the postponement: “Pete’s doing very, very well, extremely well and he wants to give himself a chance.”

“The court knows he’s tested negative for drugs throughout his residential programme - that’s six weeks now.”

“The judge wants to see how he’s keeping after the aftercare before he goes back for them to assess him.”

Pete will finish his initial rehab course later this week then enrol in an aftercare programme to last until 20th October.
