Pete Doherty reportedly turned down the chance to get back together with former fiancee Kate Moss and instead has got engaged to another model, Irina Lazareanu.

According to the Daily Star, Kate was willing to take back the Babyshambles frontman after their July split but only if he signed a legal contract agreeing to give up drugs, his cat and allow her to accompany him on tour.

A source told the newspaper that Kate made the offer a few weeks ago but currently rehabbing Pete turned him down: “Pete is finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and could once more start to realise his potential.”

“It looks like he’s clean at last and he really does want to start again, and that means not going back to Kate … no matter how much he loves her. He’s also realised, through therapy in rehab, that being subordinated in the relationship like a naughty child exacerbates his addiction problem.”

“For him to agree to follow Kate’s rules, bearing in mind that she’s older and much more successful, would mean losing control and weakening towards drugs.”

Instead, he has reportedly got engaged for former girlfriend Irina.

The Romanian-born model, who recently modelled Kate’s fashion line for TopShop, told Women’s Wear Daily: “I very recently got engaged.”

A backstage source at a recent catwalk show featuring Irina added: “She had a huge rock on her finger and when I asked her about it, she said she was engaged.”

Pete and Irina have known each other for around a decade and are said to have dated for around three years before Pete got involved with Kate. They were linked together again in August after they were spotted leaving a hotel together on the way to the V Music Festivals.
