Britney Spears and Kevin Federline ordered into joint counselling
Britney Spears and Kevin Federline have been ordered to complete three joint counselling sessions in attention to the previously stipulated parental counselling and coaching as part of their ongoing custody dispute.
The new demand came to light after further details emerged from Wednesday’s hearing with Los Angeles County Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon. In the court documents, Court Commissioner Gordon also reinforced his earlier orders regarding strict drug testing and use of alcohol and narcotics when in custody of the children.
Britney’s lawyer Sorrell Trope insists that Britney has not failed tests so far, just not submitted to them, but these have now been deemed one and the same: “The court expressly indicates that a missed test, refusal to submit to a test or failure to respond to the testing agency’s call … shall be deemed … a failed test.”
The papers, released yesterday, also gave further details on Britney’s visitation rights to her two sons: they stipulate that “all visitation .. shall be in the presence of a monitor” and the supervisor has the right to “terminate visitation immediately if any conduct or action endangers the children”.
A source told the New York Daily News that the conditions of the arrangement are not out of the ordinary or unnecessarily penalising Britney because of her fame: “Scott Gordon is a normal guy. This judge is bending over backwards for her as it is. He has to get her attention, and he doesn’t seem to have it yet.”
Britney and Kevin must complete the joint counselling sessions before the next hearing on 26th October.
