Eva Longoria has said she’d love to start her family with new husband Tony Parker straight away - but Desperate Housewives producer Marc Cherry won’t let her.

She told the Mirror recently: “Marc’s not kidding [when he says ‘no babies] because he maps the year out and really knows the storyline. When Marcia Cross became pregnant it was unexpected and it was hard for him to write around.”

“Tony and I are excited about starting a family, but because Marc has forbidden me to get pregnant this year we’re going to spend time as a married couple and build a solid foundation together before we bring our child into the world.”

“Life’s great and the main thing Tony and I want to focus on right now is us so we’ll be ready to have a child when it comes along. I believe God will bless us with the baby when the time is right.”

Regarding her marriage to Tony, she added: “I actually feel different. I feel as if I’m rooted and grounded in something deeper than my job and all of this other fluff stuff that people think is important.

The couple married in Paris in July so “we’re still in the honeymoon bliss [period]. It’s so cliched for people to say it was the happiest day of my life, but it was.”

“Tony and I just loved every minute of it. We had a wonderful time and loved the weeklong celebration of being with our families and friends. We went on the honeymoon and we slept the whole first day. We were exhausted.”

“[We’re] are both really happy and it’s great. I’m very domestic. I clean, I sew, I do Tony’s laundry. I cook every day. I’m a great chef - my speciality is Mexican food, I make an amazing tortilla soup. But Tony doesn’t like Mexican food, although he loves my guacamole, so I make this lemon pasta with pork chops and mushrooms and that’s his favourite thing.”
