Britney Spears formally charged with hit-and-run
Britney Spears surrendered herself to be charged over her August hit-and-run incident last night - just a day after being involved in another car crash.
The Los Angeles City Attorney announced last month that Britney would face the misdemeanor property damage charge and for driving without a valid license following the parking fender bender on 6th August - but Britney didn’t check into the Van Nuys County Jail to be formerly charged until around 9.25pm yesterday evening.
She spent around 45 minutes at the police station and a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson explained: “She was put through standard booking procedures which included booking photographs, fingerprinting and collection of information. Britney was at all time cooperative in the process.”
She is scheduled to appear in Van Nuys Superior Court on 25th October regarding the two charges, each carrying a maximum of six months in jail.
But with that to worry about, she was pleased to hear that she’s unlikely to face further charges for her second bump at the weekend.
According to reports, she reversed into a paparazzi photographer’s car while arriving at a Hollywood party over the weekend. After parking her car, she found the owner of the vehicle and apologised, saying: “I’m stupid, I’m sorry… I’m a horrible driver.”
She then jokingly asked, “Are you going to sue me or something?” but the photographer shrugged off the incident, saying “not to worry”.
