Melanie Brown and husband Stephen Belafonte might have married in a quickee ceremony in Las Vegas but the Spice Girl is now making up for the lack of a pre-nuptial agreement.

According to the Sun, Mel ordered film producer Stephen to sign legal documents to ensure he won’t be able to challenge her for her Spice Girls fortune if the couple ever split up. The agreement particularly stipulates that he’ll have no claim to the $5million home they share in the Hollywood Hills.

A source told the newspaper that the couple have high hopes for the relationship but after a costly divorce from ex-husband Jimmy Gulzar, Melanie isn’t taking any chances: “Mel learned a lot from her divorce.”

“She is smart enough to know she has to protect herself and her children.”

“Stephen was happy to sign the form giving up rights to the property. He is not after Mel’s cash.”

Melanie is currently involved in a custody dispute with ex-boyfriend Eddie Murphy over their daughter Angel: she is said to be asking for a $9million home and monthly maintenance allowance from the Shrek star.
