Pete Doherty has reportedly split up with girlfriend Irina Lazareanu just weeks after the pair were said to have got engaged.

A comment earlier in the month from model Irina sparked rumours that Pete had popped the question and Pete was spotted flashing an engagement ring at a Babyshambles gig at the weekend - but then he dumped her after an argument on Monday night.

A source close to the couple told the Sun that Pete was getting annoyed by Irina’s constant presence: “Irina has been following him around like a bad smell since the moment she caught his eye.”

“He got engaged in a moment of madness when he was off his head before he checked into rehab and has been questioning his sanity ever since.”

“He liked Irina but admits the only reason he got together with her was on the rebound from Kate.”

“Irina turned up in Somerset at the wekend on the set of the video for Babyshambles‘ new single ‘You Talk’ and made a total nuisance of herself. She is just so bossy - no one could stand her. Irina used to call and whinge that he should come over because she needed him.”

“She was always telling Pete what to do and where to go, and in the end he had to tell her it was over. Everyone’s happy she’s gone - it wasn’t doing anything for band relations.”
