Amy Winehouse has revealed her substance abuse and trademark beehive hair both come from the same root - insecurity.

The Back to Black star said recently: “I’m quite an insecure person. I’m very insecure about the way I look. I mean, I’m a musician I’m not a model. The more insecure I felt, the more I’d drink.”

“And to Tracey Trash, who does my hair, I’d be like, ‘Bigger! Bigger!’ - like the more insecure I feel, the bigger my hair has to be.”

But she realises she needs to get a better grasp on things before things spin out of control - or her hair gets so big that it’ll devour us all: “[Over the summer] I was just doing one destructive thing after the other. I was quite self-destructive.”

“Life’s short and I’ve made a lot of mistakes, you know.”

“I always say I don’t regret things and I don’t say sorry, but I do really. I believe strongly in fate. I believe that everything happens for a reason.”
