Tom Cruise on his “very personal” wedding to Katie Holmes

Tom Cruise has said his appearance at the Rome Film Festival this week brought back memories of being in Italy around this time last year - when he married Katie Holmes in a 15th century castle just outside the city.

The couple married at Odescalchi Castle on the edge of Lake Bracciano in November last year and despite all the press attention and celebrity-studded guest list, Tom insists it was still “very personal”.

Speaking at the premiere of Lions for Lambs on Tuesday night, he told Entertainment Tonight: “It was very beautiful. As big as it was from the outside, it was a very personal experience and something obviously I’ll never forget.”

His favourite memory from the day though was watching Katie transform from being just his girlfriend into his wife: “I think every person has it when they look at their bride. That’s something that I’ll never forget.”
