While MC Harvey might have had an affair, Alesha Dixon insists she was the one that ended their marriage.

Former So Solid Crew star Harvey and former Mis-Teeq’s Alesha married in 2005 but their relationship ended in November 2006 when he was caught having an affair with his then-West End co-star Javine Hylton. Alesha immediately moved out of their shared home and filed for divorce, while Harvey and Javine are expecting their first child together early next year.

Alesha, who is currently appearing on Strictly Come Dancing told the People newspaper recently: “It wasn’t his choice - he didn’t want to end it.”

“He regrets it, of course he regrets it. He’s told me he does and that he’s made a big mistake.”

“He also feels he let himself down as well as other people.”

But she doesn’t hate her former husband: “We own a house together and we’re going through a divorce. We speak all the time because we have to.”

“Everybody makes mistakes. But if someone shows they are sorry - and they regret their actions - then that’s all you need to move forward. It takes a bigger person to forgive than to hold a grudge.”

“It’s all about how you recover from a bad situation, what you do afterwards and how you move forward.”

“Harvey knows he’s made the biggest mistake but he has to live with that. I have let go of my negative energy towards him. If you’re angry, bitter or stressed you just end up making yourself ill. So I had to let it go for my own peace of mind.”

Alesha has recently been linked to part-time male model, part-time club doorman James Chandler but says she’s not ready for anything serious just yet: “I’m not ready for a relationship yet. I’m just enjoying single life and it really does have its benefits. You’re your own person, you can do what you like, you can flirt with whoever you like.”

“I do want to settle down in the future, though. The next person I get in a relationship with, it can’t be casual, it’s got to be the real thing. So I’d rather just wait and take my time.”
