Wayne RooneyWayne Rooney celebrated his birthday with a crowd-drawing karaoke session at an exclusive restaurant in Manchester.

Manchester United star Wayne turned 22 last Wednesday but had to wait until the weekend - after Saturday’s match against Middlesbrough - to celebrate properly.

According to the Sun, the star hired a private room (with a dedicated butler) at the city’s Lounge 10 restaurant for the party but rather than selecting the menu from the restaurant’s usual delicious offerings, Wayne’s guests chose between chicken & chips, steak & chips or fish & chips.

A source told the newspaper: “Lounge 10 is top-notch but he wanted a different set menu to the ones on offer. It was a bit like a kids’ birthday spread.”

A professional singer serenaded the group during the meal but once they were finished, Wayne and other guests took to the mic. An onlooker reports Wayne sang ‘Mustang Sally’, followed by ‘Hey Jude’, but didn’t do a particularly good job of it: “He was absolutely murdering some classic tunes.”

“There was quite a gathering of people outside listening to him singing … and it wasn’t great.”

Wayne is said to have received a guitar signed by Noel Gallagher as a gift - and a private pole-dance as a special treat - from fiancee Coleen McLoughlin for his special day.
