Catherine Zeta-JonesCatherine Zeta-Jones has laughed off suggestions that she’s suffering from an eating disorder after losing weight recently.

Catherine has showed off her new svelte figure at a number of red carpet events over the last few weeks but at the Savannah Film Festival on Saturday, she told People magazine: “[My husband Michael Douglas] was laughing at me. He told me what [people had] said – that stories say I’m anorexic. Do I look anorexic? How could I ever, ever be anorexic?”

Catherine, who has previously expressed a love of salmon sandwiches with crisps in the middle, added that nothing more sinister than a healthier diet and new exercise regime is to blame: “I’m just working out and not chomping down what I usually chomp down.”

But, she added, with the current obsession with weight loss and stars being ’size zero’, she can see why everyone immediately jumps to that conclusion when anyone slims down: “There are many women [who are] maybe a little fragile, and it becomes a huge issue.”
