Britney Spears has insisted that she’s doing the best she can with her sons as a new wave of negative rumours about her have begun to circulate.

Speaking to Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS radio show yesterday morning, Britney said regarding her recent press: “I try to not let it get to me. People say what they want and do what they do. It’s sad how people … how cruel our world can be.”

“But at the end of the day you gotta to know in your heart that you are doing the best that you can.”

When asked whether she was doing her best with sons Sean and Jayden, she responded: “Oh god, yeah, yeah.”

But a man, who partied with Britney the day after she temporarily lost visitation rights to the boys, has said she didn’t seem too bothered by the legal turn: “She was in a great mood. She didn’t have a care in the world.”

Scott Kohler told In Touch Weekly that he met the star at Hyde nightclub a fortnight ago and she invited him and ten other people back to her Beverly Hills home.

He claims Britney “seemed drunk” and took cocaine, then stripped down to her underwear and told everyone to “get in the Jacuzzi.”

At one point, another guest “joked he wanted to do a line [of cocaine] off her chest, and she agreed.”

In related news, another of the star’s former assistants has revealed that Britney was desperate to get back together with now ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Kalie Machado worked for Britney for three months from December last year and even though it was Britney that instigated the split from Kevin the previous month, Kalie said she was heartbroken about the move.

Kalie told Us Weekly: “She wanted so badly to have the father of her babies [back]. When Britney thought about Kevin not wanting her, she would bawl.”

“She would look at Sean and Jayden and say, ‘Where’s your daddy? I need help. Where’s your daddy?’”

Kalie added that Britney kept her wedding dress on show in the bedroom of the Malibu home that the couple had previously shared and framed photographs of the couple were “all over the house”: “She would ask, ‘Why did he do this to me?’ It just made her crazy and depressed.”
