Amy Winehouse’s husband arrested after assault trial fixing plot
Amy Winehouse’s husband Blake Fielder-Civil has been arrested over his alleged involvement in a plot to fix his upcoming assault trial.
Blake is due in court on Monday with another man, Michael Brown, to face charges related to the assault of a pub barman, James King but police believe the pair offered King £200,000 to withdraw his statement and fly to Spain before the trial starts. According to secretly videoed conversations, Blake (with Amy’s help) is said to have been bankrolling the plot which Brown organised.
The infamous couple’s home in east London was raided yesterday evening to gather evidence and arrest Blake, but he and Amy were elsewhere at the time. Shortly afterwards, Blake was arrested by plain-clothed police officers.
Onlookers report that Amy begged to be allowed to go with her husband to the police station and when refused, she cried out, “Baby, I love you. Baby, I’ll be fine”, as he was taken away.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan police said last night: “A thorough investigation is being carried out into claims of conspiracy to pervert justice in connection with a trial.”
“Three men have been arrested and are being questioned. We’re expecting to make further arrests.”
Amy’s dad Mitch Winehouse has previously said he hopes Blake is imprisoned over the assault charge to give Amy some space to pull herself together but Blake’s mum, Georgette said that Amy is “totally distraught and too upset to talk” about this new turn of events.
