Kanye West broke down in tears while giving a brief speech at his mother’s funeral yesterday.

Dr Donda West died in Los Angeles last week of apparent complications following cosmetic surgery and was buried in Oklahoma City yesterday.

In his brief, tearful speech, Kanye told guests at the service at the True Vine Ministry church that he wanted his mum not to “rest in peace, but rest in paradise” and that he was only speaking because his mum would have told him to “get up there”.

The service also included musical performances by Anita Baker - a favourite of Donda’s - and John Legend. Other mourners in attendance included Beyonce Knowles & Jay-Z, Erykah Badu and Pharrell Williams.

Another guest at the ceremony reports it was a “beautiful service”.
