Pete Doherty has revealed he speaks to friend Amy Winehouse almost everyday and insists she’s stopped doing drugs since husband Blake Fielder-Civil was sent to jail.

The Babyshambles frontman said yesterday: “I speak to Amy almost every day. She’s doing fine but just wants her man back for Christmas. They are desperately in love.”

Blake was held on remand over a perverting the course of justice charge earlier in the month and Pete added: “One good thing is that Blake has got clean since he has been in prison. It’s been quite an awakening.”

“Amy stopped doing everything since he went in. She realises how much they have to lose. They are going to lose each other if it carries on. Love, music and melody is the way forward.”

But photographs published in the Daily Mail suggest Pete might be wrong about his friend: the Back to Black star was photographed with a sizeable quantity of white powder stuck to the side of her nostril as she arrived for her show at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool yesterday.
