Amy Winehouse is reportedly planning to check into rehab in the new year in an effort to get clean before husband Blake Fielder-Civil is released from custody at the end of January.

Amy and Blake checked in and out of a rehab clinic in Essex twice in quick succession after Amy’s overdose in August. After leaving for the second time, Amy said she wouldn’t go into rehab without her husband and he refused treatment.

According to the Daily Mail, Amy has told friends she wants to be strong for Blake and is planning a stay in the Priory clinic straight after Christmas.

A source explained: “Amy’s not stupid, just under a lot of strain at the moment. She knows she can’t continue like this but going into rehab right now would be too hard with Blake away for another two months. She’s going to wait until Blake is on the home-stretch then get herself sorted out so she can be there for him when he leaves jail and on the run-up to his trial.”

During his court appearance on Friday, Blake was told he will remain in Pentonville jail on remand until at least 18th January and his trial - for GBH and perverting the course of justice - will take place next June. Amy is currently on a UK tour: she is set to perform in Brighton tonight and Bournemouth and Cardiff later in the week, then gigs in Manchester and London next month.
