Sharon OsbourneSharon Osbourne surprised onlookers - including daughter Kelly Osbourne - when she threw a £30,000 diamond ring into the crowd at a charity event on Saturday night.

The mother and daughter combo were hosting a fundraising event for Elton John’s AIDS Foundation at G.A.Y. in London when Sharon started throwing red AIDS Awareness ribbons into the crowd then threw the ring, saying: “Here, have a diamond as well.”

A source close the the X Factor judge explained: “It was a diamond ring that Sharon had bought for herself a while back. She gives a fortune to charities.”

“Sharon was having a great night and wanted to give something back to the crowd. Let’s hope whoever caught it doesn’t just sell it down the pub for £100.”

Sharon’s spokesperson Gary Farrow confirmed the gesture - and the value: “The ring was worth £30,000. It was a spontaneous gesture. Sharon was in a great mood, there was a great crowd and it was a poignant event.

“Christmas has come early for whoever caught it.”

The event - which raised £10,000 for the charity - included performances by Girls Aloud (with Jesse Metcalfe accompanying on-off girlfriend Nadine Coyle to the show), Sugababes, Westlife and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
