David Beckham to be backstage photographer during Spice Girls tour
David Beckham has revealed he had to fly up to Vancouver for the first Spice Girls comeback gig on Sunday night even though he had broken a rib earlier in the week because the girl group have enlisted him as their official backstage photographer for the tour.
David’s wife Victoria Beckham had previously banned David and their sons from attending the gig because she was nervous about the show - but then was delighted that he showed up.
Speaking before the glitzy performance on Sunday, Victoria told the Mirror: “It was really sweet [of him to come] - I haven’t seen him in weeks as he’s been away with LA Galaxy and he flew in specially. He’s adorable.”
“He knows I’m really nervous about him seeing me back on stage, so he bought us all these bracelets for good luck. It’s like the old days. David spent a lot of time around the girls when we first got together - it’s as though he married all of us. He’s the original Spice Boy.”
David added: “I could hardly run or breathe [on the LA Galaxy exhibition tour] in New Zealand. It’s the fifth rib I’ve broken recently. It’s a sore one but nothing would have stopped me coming.”
“There’s no way I wouldn’t have been here. I haven’t even seen a rehearsal before tonight and it’s so exciting.”
“I met Vic when she was a pop star and we can’t wait for our boys to see her on stage. I am so, so proud of her and of all of them.”
“I’ve got a few months off from football, so I just said to the girls: ‘I’ve got a camera, do you want me to do it?’ They thought it was a great idea.”
“I’m on the road with them for three months and can’t wait. When you see them together it’s quite frightening - as though they’ve never been apart. It’s amazing that me and our boys can be a part of that this time around.”

I walked out on you as well as the girls. You never got to see us as as five-piece… this is my opportunity to make it up to everyone. Thanks for the second chance.”
- Melanie Chisholm revealed her dance routinues had to be changed at the last minute because she wasn’t up to her previous Sporty moves, particularly back-flips.
