Davina McCall has revealed that her oldest daughter Holly was with her when she gave birth to Holly’s little brother Chester last year.

Davina and husband Matthew Robertson decided the birth would take place at their Surrey home so six year old Holly was around when the Big Brother presenter’s contractions began.

Davina told the Mirror recently: “We told her she could either go to school and tell everybody the baby was coming, or be there when the baby came out.”

“She said she’d stay. She was so cute, stroking my hair and helping me through contractions.”

“She helped me out with my breathing when I was in the birthing pool. She even asked if she could get in. But I said, ‘No, it might get a bit messy. Mummy’s going to start pushing, do you want to come back when the baby’s born, I’m going to make a bit of noise and you might not like it?’”

“She said, ‘I’ll watch Lazytown and come back - tell me when the baby’s here.’ She gave me a reason to be brave. It’s good to have someone there to keep it together for. He was a big baby - but I kept thinking of Holly and she gave me a lot of courage.”

“If I’d have known [Chester] was going to be 10lb 2oz I’d have been petrified.”

Davina added that it’s taken her just about a year to lose the weight she gained while pregnant with her son: “It was much harder this time around I spent the first six months saying, ‘My weight never going to go!’”

“I’m just shy of 10st now, so it’s been a year of slow, gradual weight loss and exercise.”

“I know a lot of women think I snap back, but I don’t. I do some clever dressing and sucking in.”
