Kiefer Sutherland has been described as a “model prisoner” by a spokesperson for Glendale City Jail.

Kiefer entered the facility last Wednesday after being sentenced to 48 days jailtime for a DUI and probation violation.

Officer John Balian explained: “He’s not happy to be here but you can tell from his demeanor that he’s sorry and takes responsibility for what’s he’s done.”

Kiefer has his own cell, as is standard for “long term” inmates, and is working in the prison laundry and helping distribute food to other prisoners at mealtimes.

But unlike most celebrity DUIs, Kiefer’s good behaviour won’t result in an early release as the judge presiding over his case has said he isn’t eligible. Balian added: “There’s no way he’s getting out early, unless a judge orders otherwise, which is highly unlikely.”
