She may have taken to wandering around in the early hours in her bra but Karl Lagerfeld has said he still considers Amy Winehouse to be a style icon.

The Chanel designer’s London fashion show last week featured models with beehive hair styles inspired by the Back to Black singer.

Karl explained to the Sun: “She is a beautiful, gifted artist. And I very much like her hairdo. I took it as an inspiration. It was also Brigitte Bardot’s hairdo in the late Fifties and Sixties [but] now Amy has made it her own style.”

“So, when I saw her, I knew it was the right moment. Amy … she is the new Brigitte.”
