Madonna’s adoption of son David finalised by Malawi government
Madonna and Guy Ritchie’s adoption of a baby boy has reportedly been officially finalised by the Malawian government.
The couple’s initial adoption of David, now 2, last year caused controversy in the African country as children’s rights campaigners felt Madonna had bought her way around legal barriers and launched legal campaigns to prevent the couple from obtaining permanent custody of the boy.
However, despite that, the country’s Ministry of Women and Child Development is now said finalised the adoption six months earlier than anticipated.
A leaked report about the case states: “Mrs Ritchie presents a confident and able parent. There are clear indications that David is becoming a happy, secure toddler.”
“It is in the best interest of the child to remain in her care.”
A source close to the family told In Touch Weekly: “Madonna hid it well, but there was a part of her that was worried that the adoption wouldn’t go through.”
“This is the best Christmas gift she’s ever received.”
Do you think Katie Price's marriage to Alex Reid will last?
