Billie Piper is reportedly in talks with local police to ensure that her marriage to Laurence Fox isn’t disturbed by unwanted press or public intrusions.

Billie is said to be marrying boyfriend of a year Laurence at a local church close to her family’s home near Midhurst in Sussex on New Year’s Eve and because the church is easily accessible, the former Doctor Who star has asked for help keeping out unwanted interlopers.

A police source told the Daily Mail: “If the wedding is deemed a big enough security risk, it could be made a public order issue.

“That would mean the local police will have to provide officers at the cost of the taxpayer.

“This has caused a bit of resentment in the town. It’s New Year’s Eve, the busiest day of the year for the police, and Billie is demanding a police presence at her wedding which she might not have to pay for herself.”

“For someone with so much money, there’s a bit of surprise among the locals that she is using police resources when she could just hire her own security team.”

The security for most celebrity weddings is handled by private groups organised as part of exclusive magazine deals but notoriously private Billie has turned down offers for coverage in order to keep the wedding an intimate, family affair.

An official spokesperson for Midhurst police confirmed that discussions are taking place regarding a “celebrity wedding” but no agreement has been reached yet.
