Amy Winehouse “screaming and sobbing” before 2 hours of police questioning
Amy Winehouse spent over two hours in police custody yesterday being questioned about her involvement in husband Blake Fielder-Civil’s alleged plot to fix his GBH trial.
Amy is said to have voluntarily submitted herself to the questioning - else, face formal arrest - but sources close to the singer say she was reluctant to go to the police station as arranged and according to the Daily Mail, had been “screaming and sobbing” before leaving the house.
Amy arrived at Shoreditch Police Station around 5.30pm last night and was then arrested, as is standard procedure, before providing a saliva DNA sample, fingerprints and posed for a mugshot.
No charges were made against Amy but according to a police spokesperson she “has been bailed to return to an East London police station on a date in early March, pending further inquiries.”
In related news, Amy is reportedly set to pay out up to £500,000 in legal bills for Blake’s defence on the run up to his trial next June.
Blake is said to have made a plea to the court for £300,000 worth of legal aid to help him fund his defence but the request was rejected.
Amy’s dad Mitch Winehouse told Grazia magazine that Amy will step up to pay the bills, refuting Blake’s mum’s claims that Amy is doing nothing to help her husband while he is in jail.
Mitch explained: “Amy is going to pay for his legal team and that will be a lot of money.”
“I don’t see how anyone can say she’s not doing anything for him.”
“His mother hasn’t been forthcoming with an offer to put her hand in her pocket, so maybe she should keep her opinions to herself.”
Mitch added that Blake’s behaviour in prison has given him new-found respect for his son-in-law: “I wasn’t in favour of the marriage, but they are married and I will support them, and he’s shown while he’s been in prison a level of maturity that he didn’t have before.”
“I haven’t seen him, but Amy says he’s put on two stone and he’s asking for her help to improve in a number of ways, and that’s good to hear.”
Amy isn’t doing quite so well with her husband in Pentonville jail and Mitch went on to say: “I know the real problem is she’s depressed about Blake being in prison.”
“[But] it’s clear there are [also] self-image issues, self-loathing. We were recently looking at photos of her five years ago, when she was curvy, and she said, ‘I look really happy there’.”
“I said, ‘Aren’t you happy now, darling?’ And she said, ‘I’ve been happier’. There was a realisation there.”
